Gabriel Kaplan, M.D. is a Board Certified Adult and Child psychiatrist and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He completed his training at New York Hospital-Cornell University Medical Center and has been the director of large psychiatric departments at various hospital systems in New Jersey.
A Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ (UMDNJ) and former researcher with numerous published papers and book chapters in the fields of suicide, substance abuse, violence, impulsivity, ADHD, autism, and insomnia, Dr. Kaplan is well known in the medical education field, having chaired multiple courses and symposia. He has consulted for the pharmaceutical industry on issues ranging from medical education to setting up trial networks, and for managed care organizations on the development of new business and utilization guidelines.
Dr. Kaplan is member of many New Jersey State committees dealing with child psychiatry treatment issues and is the 2005 recipient of the Golden Bell Award for Child Advocacy granted by the New Jersey Mental Health Association.
He is featured in the Castle Connolly NY Metro Region Top Doctors Guide and US News and World Report's Top Doctor list. He is also a frequent guest on Cablevision Channel 18 where he broadcasts commentary on current issues of impact to the community.
